Temporary resident permit (TRP) for people who are inadmissible to Canada
Official name: Temporary resident permit (TRP)
A temporary resident permit lets a person who is inadmissible to Canada, or who does not meet a requirement of the immigration law, enter or stay in Canada for a limited time when they have a compelling reason. Officers decide case by case whether the need outweighs health or safety risks to Canadians; there is no guarantee. The fee is $246.25. Victims of human trafficking or family violence and people who were in state care pay no fee. After 3 or 5 years of continuous stay on permits, some holders can apply for permanent residence.
