Stamp 4 after 21 months on a Critical Skills Employment Permit

Official name: Stamp 4 upgrade for Employment Permit and Hosting Agreement holders

People in Ireland on a Stamp 1 or 1H permission based on a Critical Skills Employment Permit can move to Stamp 4 once 21 months have passed since they started employment in the State on that permit. The same applies to researchers on a Hosting Agreement and Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors on a Multi-Site General Employment Permit; General Employment Permit and Intra-Company Transfer holders need 57 months. You apply through the ISD online renewal portal (no Department of Enterprise support letter is needed). Stamp 4 lets you work for any employer without an employment permit, run a business, and counts towards naturalisation. It is renewed every 2 years; renewal usually costs €300.
