Student residence
Article 23 · Official name: الإقامة العادية للدراسة – المادة 23 (Ordinary residence for study, Article 23, Ministerial Decree No. 957 of 2019)
Kuwait grants ordinary residence for study on a request from a government educational body or a private university, with a certificate from the institution proving the student's admission, certified by the competent authorities. When the residence is renewed, the institution attaches a certificate that the student is still studying. The Director-General of Residency Affairs sets the rules for transferring a student residence to another purpose. The residence regulations come from Ministerial Decree 957 of 2019; Kuwait issued a new residence law (Decree-Law 114 of 2024), and newer executive regulations may have changed these rules.
