H-2A temporary agricultural worker visa
Official name: H-2A Temporary Agricultural Workers
US farm employers can bring foreign workers for temporary or seasonal agricultural jobs after getting a temporary labor certification from the Department of Labor. The employer files the petition; workers then apply for the visa at a US consulate. Stays follow the certification, with extensions of up to 1 year at a time, up to 3 years in total, after which the worker must leave for at least 60 days. Since 17 January 2025 USCIS no longer considers whether the worker's country is on an eligible-countries list.
