Residence permit 'Student'
Aufenthaltsbewilligung Student
Non-EU nationals admitted to an Austrian university, university of applied sciences or recognised private university can get a temporary 'Student' residence permit. In 2026 they must show regular means of EUR 777.58 per month if under 24, or EUR 1,308.39 if over 24, plus health insurance. Students can work up to 20 hours a week with an employment permit, and graduates can switch to a Red-White-Red Card or extend once for 12 months to look for work.
