What it looks at

Each document is read for the facts an officer checks first. You see what to fix or be ready to explain.

  • Total against the amountBalances added up and compared with what your application lists, or the amount you enter.
  • Other currenciesNaira, cedis, rupees or any other currency, converted at today's rate.
  • Whose name it's inThe account holder compared with your profile.
  • How recent it isStatements that ended more than 30 days ago.
  • How much historyDays covered, against what's commonly asked (28 days for the UK).
  • Large depositsBig credits an officer may ask you to explain.
  • The same account twiceTwo months of one account count once, from the latest.
  • Loans and lettersLoans, sponsor letters and payslips are listed but not added to your funds.

Flags an officer would raise

Caleb reads each statement the way an officer does and points out what they commonly question, so you can fix it or be ready to explain it.

  • Looks editedFonts, alignment or balances look changed. Officers refuse documents that seem altered; get a fresh copy from the bank.
  • Figures don't add upOpening balance plus money in, minus money out, doesn't give the closing balance. Check for missing pages or ask the bank.
  • Balance rose sharplyThe closing balance is much higher than the opening or average. Officers call this funds parking and ask where the money came from.
  • Large lump sumOne or a few large credits make up much of the balance. Keep proof of where they came from (sale, gift letter, savings transfer).
  • Cash depositsRepeated or round-number cash deposits are often questioned. Keep receipts or explain their source.
  • Transfers from othersLarge transfers from other people or companies. A gift or sponsor letter and their own statement may be asked for.
  • No regular income seenNo steady salary or business income. An employment letter, payslips or business records can explain your income.
  • Someone else's nameThe account holder doesn't match your profile. Show how you can use this money (joint account, sponsor letter).

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Prepare an application

The analyser opens once you have an application, and takes the amount from that pathway.

  2. Step 2

    Upload your documents

Bank statements, savings, fixed deposits, investment statements or letters. PDF or photo.

  3. Step 3

    See what holds up

Your total against the amount, the gap if there is one, and what to be ready to explain.

Privacy

Your statements stay yours.

Financial documents are the most private files you'll add. Here's how they're handled.

  • Encrypted at rest

Each file is encrypted before it's stored.

  • Only you see it

Nobody else sees your documents unless you share them.

  • Read when you add it

A file is read only when you upload it or ask for it to be read again.

  • Delete any time

Remove a file and it's gone from your profile and your applications.

DisclaimerAn automated reading: it can misread figures or miss things. It is not financial or legal advice, and the flags show what officers commonly question, not what your officer will decide. The official checklist for your application is what counts.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The short answers. Every detail is in our guides and legal centre.

Who can use it?

Anyone with an application on e-Passage. Prepare one, then open Proof of funds in the app.

Which documents can I upload?

Bank statements, savings and fixed deposit certificates, investment statements, loan, sponsor and gift letters, payslips and tax returns. PDF, PNG or JPG up to 10 MB.

Where does the amount come from?

From the pathway's published requirement when it lists one. Where it depends on your family size or course, enter it from the official checklist.

Does it say if my funds are enough?

It compares your documents with the amount and shows any gap. Only the officer decides what's accepted.

How are other currencies handled?

Converted at today's market rate. The embassy may use its own rate, so leave some margin.
