Refugee status recognition under the Refugee Act
Korea · Official name: Application for Recognition of Refugee Status (Refugee Act)
Korea has its own Refugee Act. People in Korea, or arriving at an airport or seaport, can apply to the Korea Immigration Service for recognition of refugee status. Applicants who are refused may still be given a humanitarian stay permit. Refused applicants can appeal to the Minister of Justice within 30 days; the Refugee Committee reviews appeals. Recognised refugees receive a certificate and register for residence.
