Asylum claims in Lithuania can be lodged at the border or while in Lithuania, with the Migration Department or the Foreigners' Registration Centre. Applicants are housed at the Foreigners' Registration Centre or another place. The EU Pact on Migration and Asylum took effect in Lithuania on 12 June 2026.

Applicants are accommodated at the Foreigners' Registration Centre or another place; the State Border Guard Service may house people temporarily, by Migration Department decision, without freedom of movement.
Subsequent claims
A repeat claim without new material information does not give a right to stay while a court appeal is pending, unless the court orders otherwise.
