New Caledonia work authorisation for foreign nationals
New Caledonia is a French overseas collectivity with its own labour rules. Any non-French national, including EU citizens, needs a work authorisation from the Government of New Caledonia before working. Local employment has priority, and the authorisation is refused if a local jobseeker can fill the role. Entry and residence are a separate matter decided by the French State's High Commission (Haut-commissariat).
