Police certificate for Kenya
Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct)OnlineIn personEmbassy or consulateOfficial page(opens in a new tab)
- Issued by
- Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), National Police Service
- How to apply
- Apply on eCitizen under the DCI service ('Certificate of Good Conduct'), pay online, print the invoice and the C24 form, then have finger and palm prints taken on the C24 at the fingerprinting location you chose. The certificate is downloaded from your eCitizen account.
- From abroad
- Apply on eCitizen and choose a Kenyan embassy as the fingerprinting location; bring the C24 form, invoices, ID/passport and copies to the embassy, which forwards them to DCI. Non-citizens must show proof of legal stay in Kenya.
- Processing time
- Six to eight weeks (per the Embassy of Kenya in Madrid)
- Notes
- Legalisation is done by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs via eCitizen. Some embassies charge their own handling fees (e.g. Washington D.C. lists $50 money order; Vienna lists EUR 15) and some still describe a mail-in process with police-taken fingerprints.
Not confirmed
We couldn’t confirm these on an official page. Check the official page.
- DCI website (dci.go.ke) had an expired TLS certificate and eCitizen returned 403, so the base eCitizen fee was not read on an official page.
- Embassy pages differ: Washington and Vienna describe a mail-in process with embassy fees; Madrid describes the eCitizen process.
- Validity period not confirmed officially.
