Extend your stay in Canada as a visitor (visitor record) and maintained status
A visitor record lets a person already in Canada stay longer as a visitor and gives a new expiry date. It also lets workers or students without permits stay longer, or lets permit holders change to visitor status. If you apply before your status expires, you keep 'maintained status' and can legally stay until IRCC decides. If status has already expired, you may apply to restore it within 90 days.
