Falkland Islands Work Permit

Anyone without Falkland Islands Status or a Permanent Residence Permit needs a work permit to work in the Falklands. The employer must advertise locally and show no suitable Status or PRP holder is available, and must sponsor the worker including repatriation costs. Permits are job and employer specific and are normally applied for from outside the islands.

  • Apply from outside

    Apply for a work permit from outside the Falklands, unless an exception applies.

    • Exception for current permit holders
    • Exception for holders within the last three months
    • Certain other people are also exempt

  • Employer advertising

    The employer must advertise the vacancy in the Falklands for at least 7 days.
