Residence as rentista, pensioner or investor, and the special residence route (Migration Law art. 21(8), Ministerial Agreement 374-2025)
Honduras's Migration and Foreigners Law (Decree 208-2003) grants residence to people with stable foreign income (rentistas), pensioners and investors, among others. The law sets minimums of USD 2,500 a month for rentistas, USD 1,500 a month for pensioners, and a USD 50,000 investment. Ministerial Agreement 374-2025 (La Gaceta, 23 August 2025) set guidelines for an exceptional residence under article 21(8) for people who do not fit these categories, including foreign workers with two years of legal residence. Applications go to the Secretariat of Governance, Justice and Decentralisation (SGJD).
