Jersey visit

Common Travel Area, UK-aligned visas and Jersey ETA

Jersey is a Crown Dependency with its own immigration law, run by Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, but it is part of the Common Travel Area with the UK, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Ireland. Its visa rules follow the UK's. Since 23 April 2026, most non-visa nationals need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to visit, applied for through the UK ETA system; a UK, Guernsey or Isle of Man ETA also covers Jersey.

Eligibility

  • ETA nationals

Visitors from Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and certain other countries usually need an ETA. Each traveller, including babies and children, needs their own.

  • Visa nationals

Jersey follows the same visa rules as the UK; visa nationals apply for a visa to visit, work, study or live in Jersey.

  • Exemptions

No ETA is needed for travel between Jersey, the UK, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Ireland, or for British or Irish citizens. A UK, Guernsey or Isle of Man ETA is accepted.
