Parent Resident Visa

Official name: Parent Resident Visa (Parent Category)

A residence visa for parents of adult New Zealand citizens or residents. Parents first submit an expression of interest (EOI) into a pool. Since 5 October 2026, INZ selects about 90% of EOIs in date order (queue) and about 10% by random ballot, four times a year; the first selection under this model is 10 November 2026. Selected parents may be invited to apply and have 4 months to do so. There is a cap of 2,500 visas a year. The adult child sponsor must meet income thresholds based on the median wage. INZ shows the cost as from NZD 5,810, plus the EOI fee.
