Singapore citizenship

for permanent residents · Official name: Application for Singapore Citizenship (Immigration & Checkpoints Authority)

Singapore permanent residents can apply to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for citizenship. The main groups are: PRs aged 21 or over who have been PR for at least 2 years (no sponsor needed, and they can include a PR spouse and unmarried children under 21); PRs married to a Singapore citizen for at least 2 years who have been PR for at least 2 years (sponsored by the spouse); children of citizens; PR students who meet residence and exam conditions; and aged parents of citizens. ICA weighs family ties, economic contribution, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residence. Most applications are decided within 12 months.
