Extend or change a Turkish residence permit from inside Türkiye

Eligibility

Who it’s for: Foreigners holding a Turkish residence permit who want to stay longer or whose reason for staying has changed. Also people with a visa or visa exemption who are applying for a first permit.

• Timing

  Apply to extend your permit within the 60 days before it ends, and always before it ends.

  • Applications must be made before the permit ends in all cases

• Change of purpose

  If the reason for your permit ends or a new one arises, you may request a permit that matches the new purpose. It must be filed as a transfer (geçiş) application, not an extension.
