Overstayed in Türkiye: removal, entry ban and leaving

Eligibility

Who it’s for: People in Türkiye whose visa, visa exemption or residence permit has ended.

• Removal decision

  A removal decision is issued for overstaying a visa or visa exemption by more than ten days, or a residence permit by more than ten days without an acceptable reason (Article 54).

• Going to the governorate first

  If your visa or permit has ended and you apply to the governorate to exit before authorities establish it, an entry ban can follow.

  Official wording

  A person whose visa or residence permit has ended and who applies to the governorate to exit before being established by the authorities faces an entry ban not exceeding one year (Article 9).

• General entry ban

  Deported foreigners get an entry ban. It does not exceed five years, and may be extended by up to ten more years for serious public order or security threats (Article 9).
