Visiting Uruguay
visa-free entry or consular visa with prior authorisation
Uruguay's Interior Ministry table, dated 19/08/2025, lists which ordinary passport holders need a visa. Citizens of many countries, including Mercosur states, the EU, the US, Canada and Australia, need none. Nationals not on the list, or marked as needing one, must get a consular visa after prior authorisation from the Dirección Nacional de Migración, which usually takes at least 20 working days. Stays beyond 90 days, or for work, need prior consultation.
