Work permit for paid employment
Employers in Azerbaijan must get a work permit from the State Migration Service before employing a foreigner, unless an exemption in Article 64 of the Migration Code applies. The permit is issued for 1 year, or for the contract term if shorter. A valid work permit is itself a ground for a temporary residence permit (Article 45.1.8).
