Permanent Resident status (Taraf Penduduk Tetap), family-based categories
The Entry Permit Division of JIPK processes applications for Brunei permanent resident status. Updated guidelines took effect on 31 December 2024. The published categories are based on family ties to Brunei citizens or permanent residents (children, adopted children, stepchildren and spouses) and on proven Brunei ancestry. Most require long marriage or residence periods, a valid travel document and medical insurance.
