Temporary stay for work (permanencia temporal por trabajo) of 1, 2 or 3 years, leading to permanent stay
Foreigners working in Bolivia apply to DIGEMIG for a temporary stay of 1, 2 or 3 years, as employees or self-employed, or under state or private agreements. Employees show a notarised job invitation, a work contract endorsed by the Ministry of Labour, or a notarised civil contract, together with the company's registration documents, criminal record certificates and proof of funds. After holding a 3-year temporary stay, they can apply for permanent stay (permanencia definitiva). Nationals of MERCOSUR and Andean Community countries have separate residence agreements.
