After a permit in Chile has expired: declared fines, leaving and expulsion risk
Staying in Chile after a permit expires is an infraction with a fine that grows with time. Declaring it yourself online cuts the fine by 50%. Fines must be paid before leaving. Being in Chile after a Permanencia Transitoria expires is a ground for expulsion, as is an expired residence not renewed within nine months. A new voluntary exit plan has been announced but is not yet in force. No current regularisation scheme was found.
