Residence permit for the purpose of studies

Non-EU nationals admitted to full-time studies at a state-recognised Hungarian higher education institution (or a preparatory course it runs) apply for a residence permit for studies, normally at a Hungarian consulate abroad; the application also covers the D visa used to collect the permit. Visa-exempt nationals may apply in Hungary. Students may work up to 30 hours a week during studies and full time for 90 days a year outside study periods. Family reunification is not available to student permit holders.
