Residence permit 'EU Blue Card'
highly qualified salaried worker, third-country national
Third-country nationals taking up highly qualified salaried work in Luxembourg for more than 90 days follow a two-step process: a long-stay visa D for an EU Blue Card before entry, then a residence permit after arrival. They need a contract of at least 6 months for a highly qualified job paying at least the threshold set by Grand-Ducal regulation (EUR 65,652 a year, per guichet.lu updated 1 October 2026). After 12 months, holders get free access to the job market.
