Temporary residence for secondary education or study
Foreigners who want to stay in Montenegro for more than 90 days to study can apply in person to the Ministry of the Interior where they live for temporary residence for secondary education or study. They show enrolment at a school or university plus the general conditions: means of subsistence, accommodation, health insurance and a valid travel document. Permits last up to one year and can be extended, including for up to two years after studies end. Study time does not count toward permanent residence.

Security and record
No entry and residence ban; no unconditional prison sentence of more than six months for an offence prosecuted ex officio in Montenegro or the country of origin; no national security, public order or public health obstacles.
