Citizenship by naturalisation

Adult foreigners who have lived in North Macedonia legally and permanently for at least seven years can apply for naturalisation. They need housing, steady income, a clean record and good Macedonian. Previous citizenship usually has to be given up. Spouses of citizens, emigrants and their descendants, and people of special national interest have easier routes.
