Residence permit to stay with a partner
spouse or registered partner
A non-EU national can live in the Netherlands with a partner who is Dutch or holds a valid Dutch residence permit. The partner in the Netherlands acts as sponsor and usually applies to the IND for the provisional residence permit (MVV, if needed) and the residence permit together; for a married or registered partner the paper form is B07001E. The sponsor must meet an income requirement, both partners must normally be 21 or older, and most partners must pass the civic integration exam abroad before the MVV application.
