Visa expired in New Zealand: leaving, or a section 61 request
If your visa has expired, Immigration New Zealand says you are in the country unlawfully and must leave immediately. You cannot apply for a further visa. Section 61 lets a decision maker, in their absolute discretion, grant a visa in a special case. There is no obligation to consider a request, and you remain liable for deportation.
