Temporary residence (Law 6984/2022) and Mercosur temporary residence

Temporary residence is granted by the National Directorate of Migration (DNM) to foreigners who come to Paraguay intending to settle and carry out a lawful activity. The card is valid for up to 2 years and can be extended for the same period. Temporary residence is the step before permanent residence. Nationals of countries in the Mercosur Residence Agreement can use a separate Mercosur temporary residence valid for 2 years.
