Haiti residence permit

permis de séjour / long-stay permit

Foreigners staying in Haiti longer than the 90-day courtesy stay, except people of Haitian descent, must apply to the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) for a long-stay permit. The permit runs for one fiscal year, from 1 October to 30 September, under the Decree-Law of 26 December 1978 on Immigration and Emigration (articles 31-34). Applicants need an employer or sponsor letter guaranteeing their stay and repatriation, a recent medical certificate, a Haitian bank certificate and a criminal record. Renewal each year requires proof that income tax for the past fiscal year was paid.
