Khmer Nationality by Marriage or Naturalisation

Law on Nationality 1996

Cambodia's Law on Nationality allows a foreigner married to a Khmer citizen to request nationality after living together for 3 years from registration of the marriage. Other foreigners may apply for naturalisation after 7 years of continuous residence from receiving a residence card under the Law on Immigration. The residence requirement is waived for certain large investors and donors. Naturalisation is a favour, not a right, and is decided by Royal Decree.
