Romania Schengen short-stay visa (uniform visa type C) and visa-free visits

Since 31 March 2024, Romania has issued uniform Schengen visas (type C) for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, valid for the whole Schengen area. Nationals on the EU visa-exempt list (Annex 2) do not need a visa. Holders of biometric passports from Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Georgia and Ukraine are also exempt. Applications are prepared on Romania's e-Visa portal and lodged at a Romanian mission.
