Residence permit for study

Foreigners studying at a public or private educational institution recognised by Albania, or on training or professional internships, receive a residence permit under Article 46 of Law No. 79/2021 'On Foreigners'. The first permit lasts no more than one year and can be extended a year at a time until the studies end; for shorter courses it matches the course length. Applications are made online through e-Albania, and a provisional permit is issued within five days of the application being accepted. Nationals of visa-required countries first need a D/ST study visa.

Admission
An admission document from an educational institution in Albania.
Funds
A bank deposit certificate from an Albanian second-tier bank of at least 300,000 lekë per person (for one calendar year), or proof of monthly income of at least 32,000 lekë per person.
Language
Proof of knowledge of the language of the study programme, or confirmation of admission to a preparatory language course.
