Unique permit as an employee

Foreigners hired by an employer in Albania get a single 'unique permit' that covers both residence and work, under Article 57 of Law No. 79/2021 'On Foreigners'. The permit lasts as long as the employment contract or job offer. The foreigner, the employer or an authorised person applies online through e-Albania, from abroad or from inside Albania if the foreigner is there lawfully. The National Agency for Employment and Skills (AKPA) first approves the employment, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs issues a D/PM visa where one is needed, and the border and migration authority then issues the permit. A complete application is decided within 4 to 12 weeks.
