Unique Permit for Digital Mobile Workers

Albania's unique permit for digital mobile workers is a combined residence and work permit for people working remotely with IT tools for an employer or client abroad. It is set by Article 68 of Law No. 79/2021 'On Foreigners' and DCM No. 858/2021. First-time permits last up to one year, and no employment approval is needed.

Who it’s for

Remote employees and contractors working with information technology for employers or clients outside Albania.

Eligibility

  • Foreign employment or service contract

    Valid employment contract with an employer abroad, or service contract with a client abroad, showing work without a fixed workplace using IT tools.

  • Lawful stay

    The permit is granted when the foreigner is lawfully staying in Albania; applications can also be made from the country of residence.

  • Financial means

    Show either a bank deposit in Albania or a monthly income, in the amounts below, for each person.
